Knowing when to get help for your child is hard

When children are struggling with depression and anxiety, it is often hard to tell what exactly is happening. It might look like withdrawal, challenges at school, irritability, aggression or major temper tantrums. It can be unpredictable! Children often don't yet have the language to communicate how they are feeling, so they communicate what is happening on the inside through their behavior and parents often feel that they have tried EVERYTHING to address the behaviors to end the cycle of negative feedback that their child is stuck in. It can be such an isolating and helpless feeling.

Studies show that treatment interventions are most successful during the first few years after symptoms appear. While your child is young their brain is growing, forming new connections each day, making them more responsive to change.
