Jess Finkelstein is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has extensive experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem challenges, social difficulties, executive functioning concerns, and life transitions. Jess is passionate about supporting young people as they build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop the skills needed to thrive both emotionally and academically.
Prior to becoming a counselor, Jess worked in higher education, where she witnessed firsthand the emotional challenges many young adults face as they navigate increasing academic, social, and personal demands. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in counseling and deepened her commitment to helping young people develop the confidence and coping skills necessary for long-term success.
Since earning her master's degree, Jess has worked in school settings providing counseling and support to children and adolescents. She has extensive experience helping students manage emotions in an increasingly complex world, strengthen executive functioning skills, navigate peer relationships, and develop healthy strategies for managing stress and anxiety. She is particularly skilled at helping students who struggle with perfectionism, academic pressure, school avoidance, and the social challenges that often accompany adolescence. Jess believes strongly in the importance of a collaborative and holistic approach to treatment and frequently partners with parents, schools, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for her clients.
While Jess enjoys working with children and young adults of all ages, she has a particular passion for supporting tweens and adolescents. She understands that middle school and high school can be both exciting and challenging, often bringing significant emotional, social, and developmental changes. Jess helps clients navigate these transitions while building confidence, self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthy coping skills.
Jess utilizes evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based practices. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and supportive. She strives to create a safe environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and comfortable exploring challenges while working toward meaningful growth.
Jess believes that every individual has unique strengths and potential. Her goal is to meet clients where they are, help them identify what may be holding them back, and equip them with practical tools to create lasting positive change. She is especially passionate about helping anxious children and teens learn to trust themselves, manage difficult emotions, and build the confidence needed to navigate life's challenges successfully.
